The team won all for games they played, defeating North Babylon Liberty, Dix Hills, North Babylon Freedom and Babylon Storm. One of the BWG 2004 girls, Ashley Kieblesz, was named the tournament’s offensive Most Valuable Player. In other big news for BWG, Dakota Barnathan, one the group’s Academy products, was recently selected by FC Dallas in the MLS Super draft. Photo courtesy of BWG Soccer Forest Hills High School Lady Rangers defeat two teams to bring winning streak to 10 BY ANTHONY GIUDICE [email protected] @A_GIUDICEREPORT The Forest Hills High School Lady Rangers varsity basketball team extended their winning streak to nine games on Jan. 17, when they defeated Thomas Edison High School by a score of 59-48. The Lady Rangers jumped out to an early lead, ending the first quarter of play up 18-4, and they never looked back. Thomas Edison tried to mount a comeback — led by senior Emily Betances Nunez who scored 38 of her school’s 48 points — but ultimately fell short. Sophomore Brianna Singh dropped 25 points for Forest Hills in the win, while senior Maia Cabrera added 19 points in the victory. The Lady Rangers were able to bring their winning streak to 10 games on Jan. 19 by defeating Martin Van Buren High School. They look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday, Jan. 31, when they face off against Bayside High School.
