The NYPD has not officially declared the pattern a hate crime although five of the affected properties are owned by Bukharian Jews, and members of the Bukharian religious community feeling personally targeted have pooled together a $50,000 reward for information about the suspect. DECEMBER GLENDALE MAN CHARGED WITH LEADING QUEENS-BASED HEROIN RING Mohamed Chaaibi, 27, was identified as the alleged ringleader of a Queens heroin trafficking ring supplying enormous quantities of the drug across the borough. Chaaibi was among nine defendants involved in the crime and a search of his residence recovered a loaded .380 firearm and drug paraphernalia with heroin residue. Other searches related to the investigation recovered approximately 13 ounces of uncut heroin and additional six guns. WOODHAVEN RESIDENTS TO DOT: Make us a better boulevard bus plan Department of Transportation (DOT) Queens Commissioner Nicole Garcia received an earful of public outcry regarding a proposed Select Bus Service (SBS) plan for the Woodhaven Boulevard corridor during a community forum. Residents took issue with the current plan, which would have straphangers waiting in the middle of the busy avenue. The DOT has recently decided to push back implementation of SBS in Woodhaven to 2017.
