Moore, 25, of the 105th Precinct, was shot while on patrol in Queens Village. The NYPD was still reeling over the assassination of detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in December 2014. QUEENS MEMORIAL DAY PARADES Residents from all over Queens showed their support for veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces at nearly a dozen Memorial Day parades across the borough. Elected offi cials joined in on the parades, marching to honor those that have fought for the country’s freedom. Residents fi ght to keep Forest Hills Barnes & Noble open The Barnes & Noble located at 70-00 Austin St. made waves when it was announced that may not renew their lease, which expires at the beginning of 2016. Residents of Forest Hills fl ocked to the internet to sign an online petition to help keep their beloved bookstore open.
