C-Town, located at 29-10 Broadway, will be one of several retail sites in a fivestory development that will feature four floors of residential space. Permits for the space were first filed with the Department of Buildings (DOB) in February and according to the plans, 44,000 square feet will be designated for residential space. The commercial space will total 15,940 square feet, and 32 parking spaces will be provided to residents and shoppers. The market-rate rental building will include 64 units, a lounge, gym, rooftop party room, outdoor workout space, exterior recreation areas and private terraces, according to the architect firm for the project, Aufgang Architects. Though earlier published reports noted that C-Town may not be back, the retailer posted a message on its Facebook page on Sept. 8 with a Post-it image reading, “We’ll be back soon.” Construction for the project has already begun and C-Town is currently closed to make way for renovations. Work on the development will be completed in April 2017, according to the architect firm’s website. The owner of the site, Joseph Friedman of Jestam Realty LLC confirmed that the same owner of the C-Town will operate the supermarket at the site. “I can confirm that a new, beautiful, modern supermarket will be returning to this site,” Friedman said.
