54 The Queens Courier • KIDS & EDUCATION • october 29, 2015 FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com Lincoln Center Partners with Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning for Engaging Performances, Workshops, and Programs Lincoln Center, the world’s largest performing arts center, announces upcoming dates and details for Boro-Linc, a program that presents free family events from Lincoln Center’s resident organizations to neighborhoods across New York City through partnerships with cultural and community organizations. The Boro-Linc initiative commenced last year with several Lincoln Center programs at the Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education in the Bronx, and continues this fall with a series in Queens with partner organization Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. The program will continue in the spring in Manhattan, Brooklyn,Programs and the Bronx; details to be Childhood announced at a later date. In addition to bringing its resident organizations artists, programs, workshops, and exhibits from the Manhattan campus into neighborhoods, Lincoln Center also works with the local community center to showcase local Early at the Samuel Field Y artists from around the community and borough. Through Boro-Linc, Lincoln Center aims to make the arts more accessible and increase arts awareness and engagement for children and their families. “Access to the arts is a right, not a privilege,” said Jed Bernstein, President of Lincoln Center. “We are proud to join with our Lincoln Center constituent partners in breaking down geographic barriers to experience performing arts at its best.” “We are truly exhilarated about this partnership with Lincoln Center which offers not only quality artistic programs in various forms, but opportunities for interactive hands-on and community participation,” said Cathy Hung, Executive Director of the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. “Program staff from Lincoln Center worked with JCAL tirelessly to design a series that perfectly ties to JCAL’s mission and offerings to our regular education community and residents here.
