FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com SEPTEMBER 22, 2016 • The Queens Courier 35 Queens residents can now get their food delivered through Uber By Angela Matua amatua@qns.com/@AngelaMatua Starting today, Queens residents can order from their favorite neighborhood restaurants and get their food at Uber speed. The car-hailing company has expanded its food delivery service app UberEATS to Queens. With the UberEATS app or website, customers can order lunch, dinner, late night and brunch from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. The company has partnered with 34 restaurants in Long Island City, Astoria and Sunnyside and is offering $15 off first orders for new UberEATS users. Those who live outside of the three neighborhoods cannot receive deliveries but Uber “is looking to expand is certainly looking forward to expanding its UberEATS coverage in the future,” according to spokesperson Matt Fossen. The delivery fee is $2.99 and customers do not need to tip. According to Uber’s website, the average delivery takes 35 minutes and the app allows users to track exactly where the delivery car is. These are the participating restaurants: - Buttercup Bakeshop - Tut’s Hub - Tea and Milk - Saffron - Spice - Ornella Trattoria Italiana - Eleni’s Cookies - MP Taverna - Riko Peruvian Cuisine Sunnyside - B’way Kitchen - Flo - RESOBOX - Coo Coo Crisp Chicken - 16 Handles - Dorian Cafe - Cafe Via Espresso UberEATS is expanding to Queens. - Butcher Bar - Something Sweet - Blend on the Water - Kurry Qulture - 4 Squared Flavors - Mike’s Diner - DIONYSOS RESTAURANT - Cafe Boulis - Himalayan Restaurant & Grill Photo courtesy of Mike Dotta/Shutterstock - Nazca - Mojave - King Of Falafel & Shawarma - Los Portales - Petey’s Burger - PETEY’S BURGER - Andy’s Cafe - Hidalgo Mexican Food - Mi Espiguita Healthy food with a view: LIC’s No5 is the place to be this fall You’ll know it when you see it: the black storefront with a menu scrawled across its front in white, beckoning you inside with infamous tartines and delicious (yet incredibly healthy) fare. Step into the cozy interior of Long Island City’s No5 and you’ll find yourself subconsciously exhaling the stress of the outside world. A host of blogs may have featured No5 in their “top places to brunch” roundups recently, but this isn’t your typical brunch spot. Rado Ganev, once-manager at Cafe Bar, dreamed up this little slice of paradise on 36th Avenue as a way to bring 100 percent organic food to the community as creatively as possible. He’s succeeding in doing that, seven days a week. “We’re known for our tartines, zucchini noodles and the vegan menu,” Ganev told us. But one look at the entire menu will reveal a whole host of reasons to drop by this summer, from mouth-watering organic cheddar and mushroom pizzetas to black bean burgers and sweet potato quinoa cakes. Food is served on wooden cutting board-style plates, making your slicing and dicing that much easier. The presentation and the quality merge a gap between gourmet cuisine and fun finger food, which is symbolic of LIC’s unique neighborhood vibe itself. Don’t write this gem off if you’re in more of a buzzed-brunch mood than a salad-and-smoothie mood this weekend, because their German and craft beer menu is, in a word, impressive. You’ll find options from Firestone Walker, Ballast Point and Bear Republic, to name a few. They also carry a few domestics for those who like to keep it simple. “We’ve selected only the highest-rated beers in each category we offer, and the wines are unique and high-quality as well,” Ganev commented. Aside from an eclectic and welcoming interior (which, as the restaurant’s Yelp gallery reveals, is a favorite place for patrons to snap photos), No5 boasts a large garden area for open-air dining. Locals already love a good outdoor meal, but Ganev took the ritual a step further by adding extra-cozy couches and chairs to create a living room feel. Next time you’re looking for a unique place to indulge in a healthy meal, artisan coffee or cold, crisp beer, keep No5 on your radar. They’re full of surprises. ADVERTORIAL
