Each of the last three Walk-A-Thon’s have raised over a quarter of a million dollars. Our goal is to surpass a million dollars this year! Since 2008, Prep has overhauled our infrastructure, including our HVAC system, our PA system, and bringing the building “up to code.” We’ve also opened our new Visual Art Education wing that will service our nationally recognized Art program. Students and faculty have been able to utilize our new Physical Education/Fitness Center. And come November, our professional level Science labs will be in full swing. On tap, our state-of-the-art Music facilities, to match one of the best programs in New York City, the cultural capital of the world. In fact, Prep was the first school EVER to earn the Middle States Association’s Music Credential, which is “aimed at recognizing only those schools with the most sophisticated programs and the highest goals in music education.” Our Walk-A-Thon exemplifies the Mission and culture of Prep, that being coming together as a community to help others, in this case, our future students. Anyone can walk, and/or help raise money to ensure Prep continues to deliver the best possible educational program, taught by award winning and publicly recognized educators who are fully dedicated to ensuring their students grow to become the stewards of their time. If you are interested in participating, or for more information, please contact Prep’s Director of Development, Bob Angeletti, (718) 423-8810, x269, or visit the event’s website, www.steps4prep.org. ADVERTORIAL QUEENS LIBRARY Enrich Your Life® presents THE NEW YORK WORLD’S FAIRS: 1939-40 and 1964-65 More people attended each of the two New York World’s Fairs than attended Woodstock, and the fairs created lasting memories for generations of New Yorkers. Noted historian Ron Marzlock, author of The New York World’s Fairs: 1939, 1964, presents an exciting PowerPoint presentation of 200 images of the fairs, many taken behind the scenes and never seen before. Take a trip down memory lane and learn things about the fairs that you never knew. This program is a must-see for Queens residents who attended either fair and a great education for those who didn’t. Admission is free. www.queenslibrary.org This program is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Hearst Foundations. Queens Library is an independent, not-for-profit corporation and is not affiliated with any other library system. 1609-08/14 Library Hours Mon. /Thur./Fri. 11-7 Tues. 2-7 Wed. 1-7 Sat./Sun. closed Friday, September 19 4:00 p.m. Douglaston/Little Neck 249-01 Northern Boulevard 718-225-8414 Train: LIRR / Bus: Q12, N20, N21
