This district includes the areas of College Point, Whitestone, Malba, Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, parts of Flushing, and Auburndale. Prior to his election, Vallone served as the managing partner for Vallone & Vallone, LLP and has been admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bar Associations since 1992. As a general practice lawyer, Vallone has concentrated in elder law, wills & estates, guardianships, real estate and civil litigation. Prior to his election to the New York City Council, Vallone has served on numerous citywide boards and organizations dedicated to community service. He is the President of the Clinton Democratic Club and Immediate Past President and Founding Member of the Bayside-Whitestone Lions Club and has served as a Board Member of Community Board 7, St. Andrew Avellino’s Finance Committee, St. John’s Preparatory School, Board Member & Treasurer of the Astoria Civic Association. He was also previously appointed to serve as a Board Member to the New York City Board of Corrections. Vallone also belongs to the St. Andrew Avellino Parish, Vice President of their Men’s Guild, and is the proud coach of both daughters’ school soccer teams. He serves as director of the local Queens Folk Group that has been singing Christmas carols at Queens Cerebral Palsy Homes for almost 30 years. Other local organizations he is an active member of include: Queens County Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Catholic Lawyers Guild, and the 109th & 111th Precinct Community Councils. Vallone is most proud of establishing local annual scholarships, totaling over $25,000.00, through the Judge Charles J . Vallone Fund and now with the Bayside-Whitestone Lions Club for High School Seniors throughout Queens County. He and his wife, Anna-Marie, live in Flushing and are blessed with three amazing children, Catena, Lea and Charlie (Charles J. Vallone III). The love and support of family and his passion to serve the community are the cornerstones of his life and his community service. “SPECIAL MEN OF HONOR AWARD” VALLONE PETER F. Vallone Sr. Peter F. Vallone served as Speaker and Majority Leader of the New York City Council from 1986 through 2001 and represented the 22nd Councilmanic District in Astoria, Queens since 1974. He passed eleven consecutive balanced budgets on time. Vallone created a $300 million reserve fund and increased funding to parks, libraries, cultural institutions, health care and youth programs. In 1996, Vallone allocated $1.4 billion to school construction and textbook replacement to ease overcrowding, replace coal burning furnaces and update textbooks from the 1950’s and 1960’s. He gave New York its fi rst modern recycling programs, led the fi ght to ban pornographic book and video stores from residential areas, and protected New Yorkers from second-hand smoke. Vallone strongly advocates on behalf of women’s health issues. Vallone is a lifelong resident of Queens. His mother, Leah, was a Democratic State Committeewoman and his father, Charles, was a Civil Court Judge and civil rights advocate. He and his wife, Tena, have three sons, Peter Jr. (NYC Council Member), Perry and Paul who also practice law, and eight grandchildren. Vallone graduated from Power Memorial Academy and Fordham College of Arts and Science. He received his J.D. from Fordham Law School where he received the prestigious Francis Bacon Award for excellence. At Fordham he became a member of The Sodality and has kept his pledge of daily Mass and Communion ever since. He is also an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister and Lector. In 2002, he rejoined the law fi rm of Vallone & Vallone. He also is a member of the Governmental Consulting fi rm of Constantinople & Vallone, and serves on the Mayor’s Election Modernization Task Force. Vallone served as Professor of Politics and Principles of Government at Fordham University and now lectures at the Peter F. Vallone Lectureship Government series of televised public lectures at Baruch College’s School of Public Affairs, and authored “Learning to Govern: My life in New York Politics, From Hellgate to City Hall”, Chaucer Press (2005), and “GOD Came Home With Me, Retreat Refl ections,” Passionist Press (2008). Attorney, Author, Educator JOE VALLONE Orthotist A former Staff Sargeant in the Army; Joe Vallone has served his Country, Community and Church with the same love, dedication and enthusiasm that he shows for everything in life. Joe a certifi ed Orthotist trained at the Rusk Institute operated Professional Surgical in Jackson Heights for 30 years. He was personally choosen to be the exclusive supplier of sport braces for the Jets, Yankees and Mets and personally helped Joe Namantha come back from a knee injury to win the Super Bowl. Joe coached Dwarf Giraffe baseball for 5 years helping hundreds of boys to reach their full potential in that sport. When Holy Trinity Church was in the very early stages of developing a School Joe ran the most successful Bazaar in Holy Trinity history with no one breaking that record to date. Joes personality is infectious, warm and welcoming a trait that comes very naturally from his time spend on stage as a master of ceremony for many big bands that played in New York City and Long Island. A Champion Lindy Hopper and TV personality “Papa Joe” lovingly named by his oldest grandchild Victoria is a quite a dynamic fellow. Papa Joe has three children Paul, Annette and Charles all professionals in their fi eld and is happily married to Cathy Vallone. Between them they have 6 grandchildren that keep them busy.
