Chain is a member of C o m m u n i t y Board 6 as well as a member of the Rego Park Forest Hills Lions Club, which puts her in a position to meet members of her community and get to know them. CURRENT ROLE Chain is currently an attorney and a director in the Offi ce of Legal Affairs at the Department of Finance. She is also president of the 112th Precinct C o m m u n i t y Council and chief of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Chain runs programs with the NYPD such as essay and art contests to engage the community. PERSONAL Chain grew up in the Rego Park and Forest Hills communities. She currently lives there with her husband, son and dog. She enjoys walking her dog and getting to know people in her community. She especially enjoys meeting people who attend the 112th Precinct’s Night Out Against Crime event. INSPIRATION Chain believes that the community will become a better place if people come together and work on it. Chain strongly encourages participation because she knows that there is potential not only in the community but in the residents as well. CHALLENGES As chief of the Community Emergency Response Team, Chain fi nds it diffi cult to fi nd volunteers. CERT is a volunteer-based organization, so it relies on people being willing to donate their time. CERT volunteers are trained to educate people on what to do in an emergency, making CERT a crucial part in the community. FAVORITE MEMORIES Chain has great memories of the 112th Precinct Night Out Against Crime and being able to work with youths of her community. She also remembers setting up donation centers with the NYPD to gather supplies for the victims of Superstorm Sandy.
