26 THE QUEENS COURIER • JULY 21, 2016 FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com bestof.qns.com AEGEA IS AMAZING What does it take to be named the 2014 runner up for Best Greek Restaurant in Queens? Some pretty good Greek food. Actually some amazing Greek food, which is what you get when you eat at Aegea West Restaurant on Northern Boulevard in Douglaston. Owner Michael Sackos launched the eatery 12 years ago, he said, because he “wanted to bring traditional Greek food to the area.” And a mix of old world and 21st century is exactly what you get at Aegea. Sackos, who still uses his family’s recipes to this day, launched his app as well as online ordering last year. “We started it trying to get a couple hundred customers,” said Sackos, “and we have 1,500 signed up.” So what’s the key to being named runner up in the “Best of the Boro” competition? According to Sackos, it’s fresh food and a friendly staff. “The feedback has been great because we see how loyal our customers are,” he said, adding he’s in it to win it this year.
