Credit for the event’s success belongs to Geraldo Rivera, the renowned broadcast journalist who has developed a legion of fans, and Gillis and George Poll, owners of seven prestigious restaurants in Long Island. They saw an outpouring of both their business associates and customers. Some of the mega sponsors who made generous commitments for the golf, tennis and card/lunch party included Star Automotive Group, Castagna Realty (Americana Shopping Center, Miracle Mile), Empire Merchants, and Southern Wine & Spirits. The Polls noted that they never realized one of Life’s WORC’s group residences was located four blocks from their former Riverbay restaurant in Williston Park. “The people living at this home, along with the staff which is providing impressive devotion and high-quality care had a meaningful impact on us. We are proud to be supporters of such an important organization,” they said. Life’s WORC was founded 45 years ago by Queens Courier Publisher Victoria Schneps.
