FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.queenscourier.com MARCH 27, 2014 • kids & education • The Queens Courier 19 “The Sound of Music” at Saint Mary’s Over 500 people witnessed the immortal Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music, a delightful evening of music and dance, on Friday, March 21st at Saint Mary’s Elementary School in Manhasset. This classic features some of the greatest music ever created for the Broadway stage, and was presented through special arrangement with R&H Productions, JABEN USA and The Josephine Foundation. The theater-goers were treated to the ever-popular songs The Sound of Music, Maria, Do-re-mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, My Favorite Things, So Long Farewell, Edelweiss and many more. A cast of 30- plus students from Saint Mary’s Elementary School performed on the Immaculata Hall stage. Director Andrew J. Koslosky helmed the show, aided by Musical Director Pat White, Choreographer Daniel Stravino, a superb production staff and backstage crew. The end result was a performance that thrilled the audience and brought them to their feet with loud applause. Special kudos to The Josephine Foundation, with whom Saint Mary’s Elementary School has partnered with for the past nine years to provide a truly outstanding performing arts program for their middle school students.
