CINEMA CLUB DRAWS
OENTHUSIASTS ur numbers are growing,
reports have been glowing,
so please make a showing.
The recent cinema club discussion
of “Three Identical Strangers,” held
on September 17, drew an enthusiastic
critique from the audience. The
program, led by Vicki Mazel, was
augmented by Dr. Nurit Israeli, who
provided her professional expertise
on the psychological experiments
portrayed in the film and in real life.
Many participants drew on personal
experiences in their own
families, which generated a lively
exchange. Benny Scheckner, a film expert,
addressed the techniques of documentaries,
drawing on archival footage, interspersed with
re-enactments and on-camera narratives. A
trailer, supplied by theater manager Howard
Simon, was shown to the audience first to
refresh recollections of the movie. The next
film for review is “The Blackklansman” on
Monday, October 15, at 11 a.m. in the theatre.
Notice of the review with date and film
selection is on the easel at the top of the stairs
leading to the theater. Additional notices will
be posted in the mailrooms. All residents are
welcome.
