Last month, the North Shore
Towers Golf Club’s famous
Member/Guest Tournaments
returned, which are extremely popular
among avid and casual players
alike. Each day of play included a
full 18-hole round of golf on the
Towers’ beautiful Par 72 course
plus lots of special treats. And if you
were keeping score, you know that
each day was great—no lie!
LADIES’ MEMBER/GUEST
TOURNAMENT
HOW SWEET IT WAS!
Thursday, August 5, was “Ladies
Day” for this year’s Ladies’
Member/Guest Golf tournament
and as always, it featured a fun
theme that carried throughout the
day. 2021’s chairwoman for the
event was Judy Lev, who dubbed
the event theme “Candy Castle.”
It was good weather for golf as
the day started with breakfast in
the large card room and the players
were anxious to get going on the
course. Make no mistake, these are
friendly—but competitive—golfers.
Marilyn Salzman remarked, “We’re
here to have a good time, win or
lose…but we better win!”
Once out at the golf carts, NST’s
Golf Pro, Bob Guido, explained
the rules for the tournament. The
format for this competition was a
“scramble,” in which every player
on a team tees off, the best drive is
chosen and everyone on the team
plays the ball from there. For this
tournament, golfers had two tee
shots each. Bob was on the course
giving players tips along the way
and encouraging and rooting the
players on.
Following the 18 holes of golf,
lunch was served at Towers on
the Green which was decorated
like a candy store, including a big,
colorful lollipop centerpiece. The
meal included salads and passed
hors d’oeuvres and a beautiful hot
buffet. Let’s just say that no one
left hungry!
Kathy Bitetti, president of NST’s
Women’s Golf Association welcomed
everyone and thanked Judy
Lev and her committee members
for pulling this great day together.
She introduced Judy, who said,
“This could never be possible
without Mary Anne Langone. You
have no idea how much effort she
puts in, and how much love. I’d
also like to thank Bob Guido and
his whole staff. He even brought
in extra people.”
She continued, “And of course
I have to thank the committee in
putting together the games,
the foursomes and decorating
of the rooms. I think this was the
greatest committee I have ever
worked with.”
“I hope you all enjoyed the
day,” she added, and judging by
the applause in the room, everyone
most definitely did.
