Business as Usual
A full house of the North
Shore Towers Women's
Club welcomed Dr. William
Reszelbach on Wednesday,
August 21, in the downstairs
card room. A Hutton House historian
and lecturer, Dr. Reszelbach
spoke of his parents, both
Holocaust survivors, and the
impact this had on the lives of
his family.
Dr. Reszelbach also addressed
the rise of Hitler and Naziism and
American and German companies
that assisted and supported the
Nazi regime. Corporations included
General Motors, Ford Motor
Company, IBM, Bayer Aspirin,
Siemens, Volkswagen, Porsche
and Daimler. He described the
anti-Semitism of Henry Ford and
his idolization of Hitler. Ferdinand
Porsche, the head of the Porsche
Company, agreed with the Nazi
philosophy and developed tanks
and panzers for the German war
effort. Siemens Corporation,
known for technology and electrification,
owned a plant in one of the
concentration camps. In setting up
the camps, Jews were used a slave
laborers. Alfred B. Sloan, the head
of General Motors at that time,
sent Chevrolets and Oldsmobiles
to Germany to satisfy Hitler’s love
of automobiles.
An interesting item in the lecture
was that in the late 1930's a rash
of Bundt meetings were cropping
up in the U.S. Murder, Inc., led by
Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky,
saw to it that these meetings were
disrupted by any means of their
choice to shut the rhetoric down.
They were persuasive.

attitude, and enormous talent. As
an "unknown," he was surprisingly
on target in song, dance and acting.
Tracing flashbacks from John's

outlandish costumes. It was pointed

John's first choice for the role, had

Bringing Out the Gypsy in Me
As the song went, so went
