More than fifty members packed the Country Club’s VIP Room to share homemade cuisine, kibbitz and enjoy a live cooking demonstration. Each attendee contributed at least $25, proceeds of which benefitted the American Cancer Society, and a dish, suitable for at least 8 people. Carol Grossman, who attended the event with her husband, Jerry, brought a cold noodle pudding and champagne punch. A North Shore Towers resident for 30 years, in previous years Grossman organized a charity auction as a part of the dinner. Fellow member Fay Nadel brought a vegetarian chili. “I’m having a ball,” she said. “I love a smorgasbord!” The repast was followed by a cooking demonstration by Chef Sid, who provides print-outs of all the recipes he presents at Tennis functions. This evening’s featured dish was a salmon salad—YUM! The event, which has been held for more than 15 years, has raised nearly $75,000. According to Tennis Association President Leo Tujak, this year’s dinner was well above the $1,700 mark. Tujak, who is in his inaugural year as TA President announced this season’s membership at more than 75 with 11 new playing members. He was pleased with the dinner’s turnout and the incredible job the Country Club did. “Mary Anne and the staff set up a beautiful room!” What a spread!
