16 North Shore Towers Courier n August 2013 KEEPING COOL at the POOL A strong heat wave hit mid-July, but that didn’t dampen the summer spirits of North Shore Towers residents and visitors. The Courier headed to the pool, where people were keeping cool. Marvin and Shirley Small Debby Newman took shelter under an umbrella amongst “nice friends in a nice environment.” “We love it here at NST,” she said. Ted Schonhaus enjoyed the “pleasant breeze,” spending his day going in and out of the pool. “I’m a pool person,” he said. “I enjoy this weather.” Marvin and Shirley Small, married for 62 years, still hop in the water “as often as necessary.” They said the pool is a pleasure and a wonderful way to keep cool. Several residents took instructor Lori Scolano’s water aerobics class to get in a workout while suppressing the heat at the same time.
