44 North Shore Towers Courier n July 2016 A close-knit group Major Gittens presents plaque to Club President Judi Ross Club member Shelley Kossover holds the “Comfort Bears” she makes for unwed Moms at Jacoby Hospital Knitting Honors The Knitting and Crochet club was honored Thursday evening, June 16, for their continuing service to our troops. To date, more than a hundred blankets have been knitted and donated to various military camps, an effort that is now in its eighth year. Major Gittens of 353rd K-Com Civil Affairs Command on Staten Island presented the Club a plaque commissioned by his superior, One-star Commanding General Goddard, in appreciation of the countless hours and dozens of blankets the members have created and contributed. The Knitting Club needs your help to continue their mission to aid U.S. military and their families.
