Jackie Becker spoke about her personal
essays moving toward the golden years.
Her laugh-out-loud humor portrays the eternal
struggle to balance looks, money, health and
family. By the smiles and nods of agreement,
“Raging Against Aging” held a great message
for the Women’s Club and the well-attended
meeting, heartily approving of the message.
Jackie read excerpts of work written by Nora
Ephron, Judith Viorst and Dr. Seuss, which
highlighted positive attitudes about the process
of aging, and to appreciate where you are at
this time of life and how to get the most out of
living each day.
Most important in enjoying life, you need to
try to be relevant. It’s never too late to learn
or try new things, like jotting down stories,
labeling old photos, writing family recipes,
etc. Jackie submitted to a DNA kit and at the
time a member of her family she didn’t know
contacted her. Through that meeting, they were
both able to uncover the identity of people in
shared photos, whom they didn’t know. The
bottom line: try to embrace aging and recognize
the many positives it can bring.
