Special Feature: NST GYM 1 2 Let’s Get Physical THE COURIER/Photos by Maggie Hayes BY MAGGIE HAYES Everyone’s New Year resolutions are still lingering, and whether it was to be more active or to be healthier, one thing is for certain – the place to go is the Towers gym. The gym facilities include state-of-the-art, updated equipment from treadmills, to rowing machines, to weights; along with a boxing and spinning room for additional activities. Open seven days a week, the gym is always staffed with attendants and personal trainers, eager and willing to lend a helping a hand. “I love motivating people, and I love helping people reach their goals,” said personal trainer, Cari Heiman. Several classes are open to members, such as Body Blast, Cardio Dance, Cardio/Abs, Water Aerobics, Step, Yoga, Zumba and more. “I feel very comfortable here,” said resident Judy Engel, who frequents the gym. “I work with an excellent trainer, everyone is friendly and accommodating.” Gym attendant and trainer Heidi Fischler knows that staying fit requires a good lifestyle and nutrition, and staying youthful requires building up muscle strength to support your frame. She has worked with numerous residents who tell her that Fischler has changed their bodies for the better. “It’s very gratifying,” admitted the trainer. “People just need to do a little bit, and they can walk out of here and feel good about what they’ve done.” 1 – The North Shore Towers gym equipment is all up to date. 2 – Two residents chat as they enjoy an elliptical session. 3 – One woman enjoys an early morning workout. 4 - Trainer John Mezzacapo spends some time in the Boxing Room 5 – Personal trainer Cari Heiman supports a client on the rowing machine. 3 4 5 North Shore Towers Courier n February 2013 3
