changing children’s lives...
Bethany One Bethany, Too Bethany South Bellmore Apartments Bethany West
The average person spends 365 hours a month at home...
Imagine what it’s like not to have one.
Today, homelessness is a harsh reality for tens of thousands of Long Islanders...
More than half of them are children.
In 1978, Sister Aimee Koonmen founded Bethany House to address the needs of women
and their children who became homeless for various reasons, including natural disasters/
accidents, domestic violence and the lack of affordable housing. With the support of generous
corporations and kind individuals, Bethany House has expanded to five (5) residences and now
provides emergency shelter, food, clothing and numerous services to assist homeless women
and their children, as well as long-term transitional housing and ongoing services to help
families to regain their independence and financial stability.
“Unless someone like YOU cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Dr. Seuss
During this holiday season, please join Bethany House in making a significant difference in the lives of women
and their children caught in the crisis of homelessness in one or more of the following ways:
• Making a fully tax-deductible donation of your choice
• Supporting one of our annual fundraising events (golf outing, fashion show, casino night)
• Volunteering for one of our annual programs and/or events
• Donating goods and/or services for one of our houses
Every level of support is essential!
