■LIC PARTNERSHIP Long Island City Partnership Hosts 28th Annual #LICB2B Trad e Show and Luncheon Luncheon event featured Keynote Address from U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, and honored Jamestown and the LIC YMCA Last month, over 100 local businesses gathered to exhibit at the Long Island City Partnership’s 2015 Business-to-Business Trade Show and Luncheon at Astoria World Manor. The annual Trade Show – which attracts thousands of community members each year – is Long Island City’s largest B2B showcase, displaying the mixed-use business landscape of LIC, ranging from business services and real estate, to hotels and healthcare, to 3-D printing and catering. “LIC’s business landscape is incredibly diverse, including thousands of businesses across the industrial, commercial, tech, cultural, tourism, and residential sectors,” said Elizabeth Lusskin, President of the LIC Partnership. “The exhibitors at this year’s Trade Show mirrored this diversity, with exhibitor participants ranging from City Growers and Doughnut Plant, to The Floating Hospital and Shapeways 3D printing service, and we were delighted to honor Jamestown and the LIC YMCA at our luncheon – two important parts of the local community who continue to make great contributions to our neighborhood. I’d also like to thank all of the generous companies and individuals who sponsored this event, as well as Congresswoman Maloney for her wonderful keynote speech.” U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney’s keynote speech was delivered in front of more than 350 business, government and community leaders during the Luncheon segment of the event. “Walking around the LIC Partnership Trade Show, it was clear that this year is bigger and better than ever,” said Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney. “The sheer number of innovative and exceptional businesses who participated this year was a joy to see. Congratulations to this year’s outstanding honorees, Michael Phillips and Ebony Conely- Young. New York is truly the greatest city in the world, and Western Queens is a booming center of business. I look forward to continuing my work with all of you, bringing everyone together to share ideas, network, and figure out how to do business together.” This year’s honorees were Jamestown L.P, Michael Phillips, President, accepting, and the LIC YMCA, Ebony Conely-Young, Executive Director, accepting. The LIC Partnership also announced at the Trade Show the launch of a first-ever business survey as a key part of the Comprehensive Plan it is facilitating to strengthen the neighborhood’s economic, social and physical infrastructure. Members of the Partnership’s team were on hand at the Trade Show and Luncheon recruiting LIC business owners to fill out the survey. Information gathered will help maintain and enhance LIC’s vibrant, mixed-use community while accommodating its growing sectors and set a long-term plan for the ongoing development. All businesses and organizations in zip codes 11101, 11102, 11103, 11104, 11106, 11109, and 11120 are encouraged to take the survey at www. licpartnership.org/survey.
