■MIXING IT UP festive Tis the season! All the holiday decorations are up and the spirit of the holidays is in the air. People are shopping for gifts, preparing parties, and looking for great recipes to have a festive and memorable time. And there’s nothing better to spread the cheer among friends and family then mixing up some delicious seasonal cocktails. Here are two recipes to get you in the mood for the busy season! Sasha’s first book “Rarely Known” was published in 2014 by Element Press and is available on Amazon. spirits Holiday Hand-Made Spiked Hot Chocolate (for 4 cups) Ingredients: 3-4 bars of dark chocolate 1/2 quart of milk 1/2 quart of cream Spiced rum 2 teaspons of agave Marshmallows Sea salt Cinammon Whipped cream Directions: Over a stove-top in a saucepan, warm the milk and the cream, but do not boil it. Once the mixture is hot, add some sea salt, cinnamon and agave. Cut the chocolates into small 1 inch pieces and gently slide them into the mixture. Keep stirring for several minutes, do not leave them in without stirring, so that the chocolate melts into the mixture. Once the chocolate has fully dissolved into the saucepan and is dark, pour the mixture into four mugs, add spiced rum to the mugs (as much as you like!) and stir well. Garnish with a few marshmallows, whipped cream, and sprinkle some cinammon on top! SASHA POGREBINSKY Holiday Hand-made Eggnog Pitcher Ingredients: 6 fresh grade A or AA eggs 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract 3/4 cup of agave 1/2 quart of milk 1/2 quart of cream 1 cup of whiskey 1 cup of dark rum 1/2 cup of brandy Nutmeg & cinnamon Directions: Break 6 eggs into a container and beat them until they are frothy (almost like making an omelette) Add agave, cream, milk, vanilla extract -- stir well Add brandy, whiskey, rum - stir well Chill for 3-6 hours in refrigerator (the alcohol should kill the salmonella in the raw eggs in the meantime) After 3-6 hours in the refrigerator, add some nutmeg and cinnamon (as much as you like to flavor the eggnog) Before serving you can rim the glass with cinnamon and honey and serve to your friends!
