I feel the best way to watch over the value
of our property is to be close to the process

and have a say in it. Our homes and immediate
surroundings should be both a pleasure
to live in and a good investment. I wouldn’t
shy away from the responsibility that comes
with being on the board. I believe in continuing
the transparency between board
and non-board residents. I believe I would
be good at listening to and communicating
with both homeowners and staff and that all
residents be treated equally. I realize being
a board member could be a thankless job,
but it can be a rewarding one also, one I’d
eagerly like to experience again.
Please list any interests, talent, education
or experience you possess that
you feel would serve as an asset to the
Cryder Point Owners’ Corp. Board of
Directors.
I am a retired High School Math
Teacher with a Master’s degree in Math
and a Master’s degree in Supervision and
Administration. I was Basketball Commissioner
and on the board of directors
of the Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League here
in Whitestone for 12 years. As chairman
of the beautification committee, I was on
the board of directors of the Avalon Park
community in Orlando, Florida, from
2006-2008.
What changes would you like to see
made at Cryder Point, and why?
Right now, I can’t think of any changes
I’d like to see made at Cryder Point. I certainly
would encourage and listen to any
ideas and would critically evaluate them
in the future.

As most of you know, we must reach a quorum in order
for there to be an election. A quorum is achieved when
at least 51% of total shares in the cooperative are
represented at the election, either in person or by
proxy. We achieved a quorum last year of 54%,
but we are hoping to have much greater participation
this year.
Why is a quorum important?
Cryder Point has a 9 member Board,
and it’s structured so that the terms
are staggered, meaning that five seats
are open one year and four seats are
open the next. Each member serves
a two-year term, which creates continuity
and stability on the Board
over the long haul.
If there is no quorum there cannot
be an election and the current
board stays as it is for the coming
year only—next year, all 9 Board
seats would be open, so we’d basically
be starting from scratch. All 9
Board members would be required
to run again (if they chose to do so).
Furthermore, the length of each
member’s term would not automatically
be for two years; instead, term
lengths would be decided by how many
votes each person received, with those
receiving the fewest votes serving only one
year. We would lose our staggered system
until we achieved a quorum in a future year,
and we never know when that might happen.
Sound complicated? Yes it is…and it’s also a fair
system, but one that can only be fully realized if our
shareholders participate.
There are five candidates for the four seats that
are up for election this year. All four incumbent
Board members who are eligible to run have
decided to do so again. In alphabetical
order, they are: Richard Greenbaum,
Joel Haravay, Jason Kober and John
Naegele. In addition, one new candidate,
Steve Frankel, is throwing his
hat into the ring.
In addition, to help you make
the most informed decision, we
will be holding a Candidates’
Night on Monday, June 10,
during which each candidate
will speak for a few minutes
and field questions from
the audience. Please join us
poolside for this important
forum.
Please be sure to attend
the Annual Shareholders’
Meeting on Thursday, June
20, at the Bay Terrace Jewish
Center. If you cannot attend in
person, please complete your
proxy and have someone submit
it for you, and encourage your
neighbors to do so as well. Every
vote counts!
Following are reprints in alphabetical
order of each candidate’s resume
along with a photo so that you can put a
face to the name. These resumes are necessarily
brief, but we hope they give you an idea
of what each candidate’s goals and perspectives are.
