 Cryder Point Beach Cleanup 2019
Before the cleanup The dedicated crew makes progress Afterwards, not too shabby!
The annual beach cleanup took place on Saturday
morning, May 11. It was scheduled a little later than
usual this year due to spring holiday conflicts, but
 better late than never!
About 15 residents took part (thank you all!), and
the first thing that was noticed was how relatively
clean the beach was, at least compared to last year
when there was a large amount of garbage all over
the beach. This year, it was nearly all just rocks and,
luckily, most of them were on the (relatively) small

 PHO Grand
 BY HELENE OELERICH
PHO Grand is a new Vietnamese
 restaurant located at 38-40 Bell
Blvd. in Bayside. It offers delicious
Vietnamese food in an inviting atmosphere.
   The ambiance is really
nice and the pillows on the sofas are
 comfortable.
 Appetizers include shrimp spring
rolls, crispy spring or vegetable rolls.
We loved the summer rolls with peanut
 dip...yummy! Other appetizers
 include calamari, pork and chive
 dumplings, fried chicken wings, seafood
 pancakes and grilled squid, as
well as specials of the day.
There are many salads and soups.
The broth is light and flavorful!
 Sandwiches, angel hair noodle
dishes, several seafood dishes as well
as beef, chicken and pork. The pork
chops had a very good Char flavor,
 served with cucumber, tomato, fish
sauce on the side. There is Hot &
Spicy as well as Calm and Flavorful.
 Beverages and desserts are available
 too.
PHO Grand is open 7 days a week
 from 11am until 10pm.Call 646-969-

com. It can get quite busy and there’s
a line sometimes, but it’s worth it--
 the food is so good!
 side.
You’ll see from the photos that about half of the
beach was cleaned up, enough for folks to go down
and sit for a spell. (Fair warning that residents should
check the tides before going down, as our small sliver
of sand more or less disappears during high tide.)
It’s hoped that next year’s cleanup can happen a
little earlier—and that the condition of the beach
will be in at least as good a shape as it was in this
 year!
The infamous “beach chair” never budges!
