The Waterbury LaSalle
 Community Association has
 started working on the Blue
 New Deal already. We visited
the 45th Precinct to show our
 support. We spoke directly
to our offi cers and told them
 that we appreciate the work
they have done to keep us
safe. We told them that we
 understand that city government

 Some of our politicians are
 talking about the Green New
Deal. I think they should be
 talking about the Blue New
Deal because we have a very
 serious anti-police climate
 that is causing the destruction
of not only our city but
our country as well. It must
 change.
 The Blue New Deal must
 change the climate to one
 that is pro-police. We must
support our offi cers so that
 they can effectively do the
job we hired them to do. We
 must enact laws that punish
those that assault our offi -
cers weather or not that assault
 results in harm.
 The Blue New Deal should
call for all schools to teach
 students that you must obey
the words of an offi cer. Of
 course, this should start at
home but we seem to have too
 many individuals that are
 not taught respect at home
 and sometimes that causes
 physical harm. No one seems
 to discuss this when there
 is a confrontation between
an individual and an offi cer.
 Just listen to authority an
 everyone will be safe. There
will be time later to lodge a
 complaint if it is needed.
 BRONX TIMES REPORTER, A 60 UGUST 16-22, 2019 BTR
 is not supporting them
and we will do everything we
 can to change that.
 Of course, we brought
 some goodies to show our
 appreciation. But we made
 it clear that the goodies,
 the heartfelt words and the
 promise of continued support
was just the beginning of our
fi ght to change the unacceptable
 anti-police climate in
 this city.
For all that read this column
I ask that you take action.
   If you realize that an
 anti-police climate will eventually
 bring crime and destruction
 to us, then you
 must speak out. You must
 join this effort.
 What can you do? There
 is much. Tell every elected
 that they must support the
 Blue New Deal. Write letters
 denouncing regulations that
tie the hands of our offi cers.
 Demand legislation that protects
 our offi cers from any
 assault. Speak to your children
 about police relations
and how important it is to always
 follow the instructions
of a police offi cer. Take your
child to our precinct to meet
our offi cers and say thank
you. Write a letter of thanks
 to our precinct. Bring goodies
 with a note of support.
When you see an offi cer on
the street, stop to thank that
offi cer and offer words of support.

 Please do something today
to show that you support the
Blue New Deal and our offi -
 cers. Your life may depend
 on it.
