Riverdale Choral Society recruits singers for fall season
The Riverdale Choral Society
invites singers of all levels to
join them for the gall 2019 season.
Open rehearsals will be held on
two Wednesdays, September 4 and
September 11, at 7:30 p.m. They
welcome all voice ranges: soprano,
alto, tenor, and bass. Music director
John Lettieri will conduct.
Singers who join the Choral Society
will be preparing for a concert
on Sunday, December 8, at which
they will perform ‘In the Beginning’
by Aaron Copland and ‘Fantasia on
Christmas Carols’ by Ralph Vaughan
Williams. The concert will take place
at Christ Church Riverdale and will
offer the audience an opportunity to
hear beautiful music right here in the
Riverdale area.
Since 1964, the Riverdale Choral
Society has been bringing joy to the
community through performances
of high-quality choral music. Their
welcoming, diverse group of men
and women rehearses weekly under
professional artistic direction,
singing both traditional and contemporary
repertoire. Through live concerts
and community outreach, the
chorus enriches the cultural life of
the greater Riverdale area.
If you love singing and can read
music (you don’t have to be able to
sight read if you have a good musical
ear), consider joining them. Rehearsals
will be held every Wednesday
from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. at Christ
Church Riverdale, 252nd Street and
Henry Hudson Parkway East, where
there is street parking available and
easy access to public transportation.

Transportation services are available
to seniors Monday through Friday,
8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in community
districts 9, 10, 11 and 12. The program
provides door-to-door service
for all medical appointments. Their
drivers are courteous and professional;
and their vehicles are clean
and handicap accessible, including
wheelchair lifts.

the exercise classes from gentle
Yoga Stretch, Balance Class,

Cardio Fit. They also offer acrylic
painting, health presentations, blood
pressure monitoring, gardening exchange,
singing group and parties.
Lunch is served from noon to 1 p.m.

participants go on shopping trips
every day; i.e. Shop Rite, Dollar
Tree, Target, Kmart, as well as theatre
excursions, special trips, special
luncheons and more. It’s free to
become a member, but you must be
60 years of age or above.
