Around Town!
Navy Instructor
This week’s edition is
dedicated to Bronx native
and US Navy Petty Offi cer
2nd Class Beverly Rodriguez,
an instructor at Naval
Education and Training
Command.
NETC educates and trains
those who serve our nation,
taking them from street-tofleet
by transforming civilians
into highly skilled, operational,
and combat ready
warfighters, while providing
the tools and opportunities
for continuous learning
and development.
NETC is made up of six
commands that provide a
continuum of professional
education and training in
support of Surface Navy requirements
that prepare enlisted
sailors and officers
to serve at sea, providing
apprentice and specialized
skills training to 7,500 sailors
a year.
Before she was teaching,
Rodriguez was a 2011 graduate
of Newburgh Free Academy
High School and Columbia
College graduate.
Rodriguez credits her
success as an instructor
to many of the lessons she
learned growing up in the
Bronx.
“I learned that keeping an
open mind and diversifying
your surroundings is key to
becoming a true leader,” Rodriguez
proudly said.
