 Landmarks Conservancy
 Bronx students Imane
 Sana, Madelin Vasquez
 and Aminata Diallo participated
 in The New
 York Landmarks Conservancy
 Summer Internship
 Program. These
 students are from Bronx
 International High
 School which hosts a
 Preservation Technology
 Program (PTP). Bronx
 International is housed
 in the landmark Morris
 High School designed by
 architect, engineer, and
 New York City Superintendent
 of School Buildings
 C.B.J. Snyder.
 The Conservancy has
 hosted PTP interns for
 six years. Interns participate
 in fi eld trips to
 architecturally signifi -
 cant sites, workshops,
 and professional offi ces.
 “Our partnership with
 Bronx International exposes
 juniors and seniors
 in the program
 to the profession of historic
 preservation and
 the various career paths
 in the building conservation
 and restoration
 fi elds,” said Peg Breen,
 president, The New York
 Landmarks Conservancy.

 Conservancy intern
 Imane Sana said her favorite
 fi eld trip was a
 visit to Silman Structural
 Engineers, one of
 the country’s top engineering
 fi rms. “I had a
 chance to talk with one
 of their young associates
 who is a recent college
 graduate in civil engineering.
   She encouraged
me to form a study group
 and meet with my professors
 early in the school
 year,” said Imane. She
 will attend City Tech in
the fall and hopes to become
 a civil engineer.
 Interns Aminata
 Diallo and Madelin
 Vasquez enjoyed a fi eld
 trip to the Skyscraper
 Museum. “I liked the
 models of the different
 skyscrapers, especially
 the Twin Towers,” said
 Aminata who is entering
 her senior year at Bronx
 International High
 School. Madelin added,
“The best part of the Skyscraper
 Museum was the
 miniature models of the
 City grid.” She is heading
 to Bronx Community
 College in September.
 The New York Landmarks
 Conservancy has
 led the effort to preserve
 and protect New York
 City’s architectural legacy
 for more than 45
 years. Since its founding,
   the Conservancy
 has loaned and granted
 more than $52 million,
 which has leveraged
 more than $1 billion in
 nearly 2,000 restoration
 projects throughout New
 York, revitalizing communities,
  providing economic
 stimulus, and supporting
 local jobs. The
 Conservancy has also
 offered countless hours
 of pro bono technical
 advice to building owners,
  both nonprofi t organizations
 and individuals.
     The Conservancy’s
 work has saved more
 than a thousand buildings
 across the City and
 State, protecting New
 York’s distinctive architectural
 heritage for residents
 and visitors alike
 today, and for future generations.
