Velocity’s athletes at the USATF New York Series XC Meet #2
BY GRACE CERINI
BANTAMS
Week Five of AFC Rapids
soccer season and another
beautiful day for the sport.
Cestra’s Pizza were facing a
foe they had seen before on
Opening day. Uncurtain Inc.
really dominated the fi rst
meeting. This meeting however,
proved a little different.
Though the Cestra’s suffered
their third loss of the season,
they left their mark on what
turned out to be a quite competitive
game ending with a
6-3 score. #30 and starting
forward, Matthew Urquhart,
scored his fourth hat trick of
the season. He continues to be
a stand out for the team and
is proved to be the leader of
an improving Cestra’s team.
Their #11, Adriana Rizzi, has
made great strides and played
her heart out today, even covering
the goal for the last half
of the game. As usual starting
goalkeeper Alex Rolla picked
up an early injury which warranted
the switch. Back and
forth they went at the 10 o’
clock showdown. #6 Madison
De La Cruz, Aliana and Gianna
Didimenico, and #2 Jake
Rolla held the back line strong
and made it a diffi cult day for
Uncurtain. Madison was even
able to use her non stop hustle
to spring Matthew free for one
of his goals. She continues to
be the heart of a rapidly improving
defense. The reserves
of Xavier Aponte, Brandon
Delgado, Max Cardi, Ava Vitale,
and new addition Brahima
Diallo did not get much
play time in this game but
added equal efforts when they
had their opportunities. Ava’s
confi dence continues to grow
and Brandon and Xavier are
key components to what the
Cestra’s try to do. Max is seeing
his fi rst game back from
illness and is working his way
back to the starting lineup.
It has been tough to see what
Brahima can do but always
shows great enthusiasm when
called upon. The Cestra’s now
boast a two win, three loss
season and have a battle next
week with Barino’s Market.
Yet another measuring stick
for the Cestra’s.
Burns and Rodriquez
played a great game today
against Ann Claire’s. The fi -
