16 | BOROMAG.COM | JUNE 2015 FOOD & DRINK Tickets are now on sale for 2015’s premiere farm-to-festival food and wine tasting, The Catskills Comes to Queens, which will be held at historic Flushing Town Hall on August 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature 20 chefs from both the Catskills and Queens, each putting their own culinary spin on the agricultural bounty of the Catskills. “I’m eager to showcase the best of the Catskills—grass-fed beef, heritage pork, farm fresh produce and more—in the big city,” said David Noeth, president of New York Epicurean Events. Confirmed participants include Chef Hugue Dufour (M. Wells Steak House, Long Island City), Chef Andy Doubrava (Salt & Fat, Sunnyside), Chef Graziano Tecchio (Mint, Kingston), Fruition Chocolate (Shokan, NY) and Vulto Creamery (Walton, NY). “As someone who’s been writing about food in Queens for years, I’m excited to provide such wonderful local products to the top chefs in my home borough,” said Joseph DiStefano, New York Epicurean Events vice president. “I can’t wait to see what they prepare.” The Catskills Comes to Queens Backyard BBQ will feature acclaimed pitmasters Josh Bowen of John Brown Smokehouse in Long Island City and Big Lou Elrose of Charred in Maspeth, serving sumptuous tastings of meats smoked low and slow over hardwood smoke. Catskill brewers, vintners and cider makers will be on hand pouring their products to guests who will be free to roam the multilevel festival, including the Backyard BBQ, gallery tasting area and theater, which will feature live bluegrass music.
