Dear Western Queens, The beauty of living in Queens is the ability to find something new every day. This issue we explore Long Island City. The rapid growth in this neighborhood is breathtaking from the waterfront park to the arts to new high rises taking shape throughout the community. It was exactly one year ago that I kicked off LIC Flea with the belief in this neighborhood. The 4th annual LIC Arts Open last month shed light on over 250 artists in 54 venues and was the most successful one to date. LIC has the momentum and community activists making it not only a first class neighborhood to live in but one to welcome visitors. Art and artists are a big part of the culture in Western Queens and we’ve made sure to bring you a young up and coming musician who made an impressive video on the subways of Astoria as well as a talented graphic designer bringing portraits to life. With summer here and the weather heating up we all start to think about getting in shape. Our very own Hayley Bridgewater gets kicked into shape at Astoria’s Sage Studios run by a young entrepreneur.
