amm! n Dec. 26, 2012, Andrew Hamm sat down at his dining room table and drew a cartoon on a napkin. He took a picture of it on his phone and posted it on Twitter. The next day he did the same thing. And the next day. And the day after. This is the Idea behind Ahammaday. It’s a simple one—just draw something new every day and share it. Andrew was born in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada. After two years of “a cartoon a day,” he decided to switch his format from a “free-form” cartoon style to the more rigid single-panel gag format, as seen in The New Yorker or The Far Side. With the change he was now able to submit his cartoons for publication. hat a His work can be characterized surreal and illogical, attempting to twist the mundane and innocuous. In the end, he just wants to leave viewers thinking, “OHHHHH, I get it!” Hamm has been published in The New Yorker and The Guardian. You can visit his website at www. ahammaday.com to see more of his work or follow him on Instagram @ ahammaday. For more information you can email him at andrew@ahammaday. com. His work is currently on display and for sale at The Brass Owl on Ditmars Boulevard. W H O february 2016 I BOROMAG.COM I 43 THE ARTS
