East of REeirvast Vikram Dogra is one of Astoria’s most prolific photographers. Upon moving to the neighborhood 14 years ago, he instantly fell in love with Astoria and began photographing it. Drawing from thousands of images he has taken over the years, Dogra has composed a photo book entitled “East of East River: A Decade of Street Photography in Astoria & Long Island City, Queens, NY 2005-2014.” With about 140 images, the book was born out of a decade of a labor of love for a unique part of New York City, separated from Manhattan by the East River and connected to it by two beautiful bridges—so close, and yet worlds apart...
