The Bayard Cutting Arboretum is the perfect

1920s and 30s. Back in 1936, Olivia James had
a dual purpose for what she envisioned what is
now known as the “Bayard Cutting Arboretum.”
She wanted it to be both an oasis of beauty and
quiet as well as educate the general public on
the value of informal planting. The Arboretum
consists of 691 acres that are situated on the
Connetquot River. Throughout the estate,
visitors can learn about the different plants
and trees they may come across. Tours of the
mansion are available depending on the season
and there is a café that offers a light luncheon.

among others. She further shines as a singer
portraying fairy princesses when performing
with her own Royal Prep Party Company. Her
B.F.A. is in musical theatre and film and TV
acting from NYU Tisch. Edquist’s trained vocals
delight audiences along with her company’s

performers in their portrayal of fairy princesses

vibrant red beret, Dagger DogVinci knows
it’s time to get creative. From the time he was
a puppy, Dagger was already on to do great
things by training to be an assistance dog for
canine companions. Following his release
from the program, his owner Yvonne jokingly
asked him if he wanted to paint and his tail
wagged eagerly in response! Dagger creates
colorful paintings that constantly turn heads
with the stroke of the brush. After all, it’s
not every day an animal can emulate human
skills and get creative. Dagger takes comfort
in knowing his artistry has touched the lives
of many Long Islanders and have no plans of
stopping anytime soon!

Center for the Performing Arts. Located on
the LIU Post campus, Tilles Center has hosted
more than 70 performances from musicians,
dancers, and more, and boasts being the first
venue to bring the New York Philharmonic
to Long Island. The venue has a full cash bar
onsite so you can sip on some spirits during the
performance, plus some light snacks available
as well. Most shows also host pre-performances
by local musicians in the Goldsmith Atrium
before the ticketed event starts, so you can
