The Port Authority Hispanic
Society celebrated National
Hispanic Heritage
Month virtually this year
moderated by Pamela Mendoza.
This year’s theme is
“Be Proud of Your Past and
Embrace the Future” and the
PAHS held a celebratory event
featuring Sara Peña, Director,
NJ Department of State
Center for Hispanic Policy,
Research and Development
as the keynote speaker. Miss
Peña also serves as President
of the LUPE Fund. The mission
of LUPE is to Educate,
Empower, and Engage Latinas
to promote Leadership and
Civic Engagement.
Guest Speakers included
PANYNJ Executive Director,
Rick Cotton, Chairman Kevin
O’Toole and Port Chief Diversity
Officer Michael Massiah,
Julissa Gutierrez from New
York State, Office of Governor
Andrew M. Cuomo andmembers
of the PAHS.
The celebration highlighted
the cultural contribution
that Hispanics bring to
the airport community, the
giving back to the community
via the PAHS scholarship program,
a virtual museum visit
from El Museo del Barrio,
popular painters, and Boys to
Leaders Foundation through
Rutgers University.
In statements by Rick Cotton
and kevn O’Toole they reflect
the mission of the Port:

The Port Authority Hispanic
Society’s (PAHS) mission
is to represent and
promote the interests of Hispanics
employed by The Port
Authority of New York and
New Jersey and the Port Authority
Trans-Hudson Corporation
(Port Authority/
PATH), and to enhance the
representation of Hispanics in
the agency.
