International Flights are open
to the U.S.
New USA entry requirements.
You must be vaccinated
by a recognized
vaccine to enter the U.S.
under new rules.
The CDC will have
tables at arrivals halls at
JFK to administer free,
voluntary covid tests for
arriving international passengers
and those from
some Africans countries.
Proof of vaccine, or in
some cases, proof of PCR
testing within 24 hours of
flight time and potential
quarantines are now to be
expected from those flying
into the US. Check with
your airline for requirements.
Passports: Many countries
require your passport
have 3 to 6 months validity
remaining before they will
allow you to enter or issue
a travel visa.
Mask Matters
NEW: The TSA has increased fines for mask violations
and extend necessity to wearing into 2022. Masks
are required at all times in every building at the Port Authority
airports.
Redevelopment Reboot- 2022 will be a busy
and milestone year for JFK Airport
At the recent JFK GM Stakeholders
meeting it was announced
that the JFK Redevelopment
groups would again be
meeting. Despite the impact of
the pandemic, plans had been
continuing for the changes but
now the actuality has begun in
earnest.
T8 has been in the works,
and T4 in physically beginning
work as T1 and T6 work out major
details that will lead to initial
construction in Q1. As we celebrate
Martin Luther King Day,
and Black History Month, the
redevelopment has ushered in
a whole new series of diversity,
inclusion and minority opportunities.
The Port has committed
to larger percentages of MWBE
and minority contracting opportunities
along with established
large contractors to offer all a
stake in the $13 billion plus airport
wide project. The Port has
also committed to a host of community
benefits that come along
with redevelopment and the
community has endorsed and
supplemented these.
Dr. King was a non-violent individual
preaching for togetherness.
Unfortunately the airport
has seen some aggression with
passengers getting out of hand
and hate crimes incidents. While
not many, it is not acceptable for
this behavior and it is good that
the PAPD and Queens AG are
bringing these violators to justice.
We have been a diverse
community for decades and accepting
of different cultures and
beliefs with religious centers
side-by-side in T4. The We Soar
program is a good basis for our
airport workers to exemplify excellent
interactions with our travelers
and to reward these outstanding
people recognition. We
thank the flight attendants, gate
personnel, security and al our
airport workers for trying to keeping
the peace, being respectful to
each other and doing what’s right
this day and every day.
