The Boys Scouts of America (BSA)
recently held its annual Salute to
Women in Leadership, now celebrating
its10th year. The BSA has evolved
with time and now incorporates girls,
and diversity in its membership evidenced
that evening with the all female
Troop 253 Color Guard. Philippa
Karteron had been involved since the
start and recognized all the women
honored at the event as being committed
to making a difference and giving
back while also praising the diversity
that is found in leadership today,
“ These women make time to make
a difference in our world. We have
jobs to do and all organization work
together for a better world. Neither
heritage nor skin color matter if you
our interested in our world-a world
where we can lead young people and
give them a world they can grow and
be proud of. “
Mike Sibilia, President of the BSA
NY Queens Scouts Council spoke
proudly about the BSA programs dedicated
to enriching the lives of young
boys and girls by providing scholarships,
subsidizing camp costs, and
thanked Karteron for her efforts to
raise thousands of dollars through
this event for the programs. Speaker
scout Taylor Chao of the first all female
Boys Scout Troop 253 in Queens
thanked the recognized leaders
for about “helping sisters and girls
achieve our dreams in being a part of
BSA.”
