Why is my dog scooting their butt across the floor?
They are most likely feeling their anal sacs are full and are
trying to empty them on their own. However, if they continue to
do this, please bring them to see their vet to have them
expressed (manually emptied). If left untreated, they can
abscess and will need extensive care.��
Just remember cats can have anal sacs issues too!
Why is my cat�� urinating outside their litter box?
There can be several reasons for inappropriate elimination. It's
possible, your cat doesn't want to use a dirty box. It's
recommended that there be one more litter box than there are
kitties.�� For example a 2-cat household should have 3 boxes.��
Scooping out the box on a daily basis or every other day can
also help. You can try changing the litter as well.�� Some cats
prefer covered vs. uncovered boxes, extra large boxes, etc.
If they're still having accidents, it's important to see your family
veterinarian.�� They may be experiencing a urinary tract infection,
urinary crystals, stones, or other serious health issues.��
It is also important to note, unneutered male cats will spray to
mark their territory. This will occur outside their box and can be
extremely potent. It's important to get your cat neutered (or
spayed) as soon as possible.
My pet was diagnosed with a heart murmur, what are the next
steps?
We recommend that you discuss this with your family veterinarian.
Generally we will recommend to get a full cardiac workup, which
includes an Electrocardiogram, chest x-rays, blood pressure and an
Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound). Some pets may require
medication depending on the severity.
Do you recommend pet insurance?
Absolutely, this is extremely important if it financially fits into your
family's budget. There are several companies out there, I
recommend you look at each one individually and read the fine
print.�� Look for those that cover accidents and illnesses since that's
generally when you would spend the most money and of course
they are unexpected.
