About the Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology Donation
Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology has a deep commitment to strengthen
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Technology (STEM)
programs to help educate the next generations of engineers,
scientists and medical professionals. As a result, they have
donated $36,000 to upgrade the technology in Brooklyn
Technical High School’s Con Edison Environmental Science
Laboratory.
Th e generous grant from Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology will provide
new computer technology resources that will enable Brooklyn
Tech students to advance their studies. Specifi cally, those
students involved in several prestigious research programs,
including the Harvard Forest Leaf drop phenology study
program, the University of Hawaii for the Albatross bolus data
collection, and University of Berkeley YPLAN program, have
already been able to contribute meaningful data and scientifi c
analysis more accurately and effi ciently. Th ese are very timely
and relevant programs. Th e school is grateful that because of
this donation, students will more readily see the outcomes of
their work.
About Brooklyn Tech
Brooklyn Technical High School is the nation’s largest
specialized STEM high school and is a charter member
of the National Consortium of Specialized Secondary
Schools for Mathematics, Science and Technology.
While Brooklyn Tech has a decidedly pre-engineering
orientation, students go on to all professions. Tech’s
student body is economically, ethnically, and racially
diverse, and its students come from all fi ve boroughs of
New York City.
Brooklyn Tech is the only one of the specialized
New York City high schools to off er students the
opportunity to study a major area of concentration
in their junior and senior years. Th e majors at Tech
enable students to explore an interest area related to
mathematics, science, engineering, technology, and
the social sciences. As a result, Tech is one of the few
schools in the nation where juniors and seniors study
Environmental Science/Engineering in-depth as a twoyear
curriculum.
