Thursday offers up a day at
BounceU, the ultimate place
for children’s games and celebrations.

is for kindergarteners
through seventh-graders.

2 Gazillion Bubbles
and Gazillion Smiles

Gazillion Bubble Show will
be at the New York Hall of
Science to mystify audiences
of all ages. This show
will have laser lighting effects
and will include all kinds of
soapy masterpieces. During
their Sustainable Spring
Break program, there will
be several installations and
workshops. And the Gazillion

Rotating Objects
at the Noguchi Museum
- Although the exhibition
is closed on Mondays
and Tuesdays, Gabriel
Orozco’s Rotating Objects
has a four-month run at
the Noguchi Museum. This
installation has 10 works
by Gabriel Orozco, three
Obi Scrolls and seven Roto
Shaku. According to the
Noguchi Museum, the Roto
Shaku are made from lumber
that Orozco wrapped in a
variety of colored tapes. The
artist utilizes abstraction and
his signature geometries to
create his distinct work. The
exhibition began on April 17
and will run until Aug. 11.

The Great-Flux Bake Off: Flux Factory Artists Compete
in Baking Competition - Since 1993, Flux Factory in
Long Island City has been supporting local artists. On
Sunday, April 28, four bakers-in-residence will have the
“Great-Flux Bake Off.” This cooking competition pits the
best chefs in the business against one another to create
some of the best treats in the borough. The competition
includes legendary cook off judges such as Muse
Dodd and Jonathan Sims. Sindhu Thirumalaisamy, Rory
Fitzgerald Bledsoe and Dew Igworia will co-host the
event. Audience members can bring food to share.
There will also be a rooftop picnic brunch potluck.

Friday, pianist and composer
Renee Rosnes will
perform at Flushing Town
Hall. Rosnes has toured
with all of the greats in
the music industry. This
list includes James Moody,
Joe Henderson, Wayne
Shorter, JJ Johnson, Bobby
Hutcherson, the SFJAZZ
Collective and pianist Bill
Charlap. During this performance
she will bring
her quartet, who each
offer something unique to
the band’s performance.
Rosnes will play with Peter
Washington, Steve Nelson
and Lewis Nash. She has
been praised by publications
such as DownBeat
Magazine, who said she,
“offers exquisite balances of
delicacy and power, witty
and weighted ideas, assertiveness
and deference.”

session. Professional artists
will instruct the class, guiding
participants through the
event. At the end of the night,
you will have created your
very own masterpiece to take
home. Come paint at The
Paint Place. There’s no better
way to spend a Saturday
night.

Storytelling and
Crafts Event - Celebrate
Native American culture
on Saturday with Bayside
Historical Society’s special
family event. This event will
be a Native American story
time and craft. Led by author
Donna Gentle Spirit Barron,
this historian and genealogist
will direct children while
making storytelling necklaces
with beads. Instructor Donna
Gentle Spirit Barron has written
several books on the
Matinecock tribe. This event
is for children of all ages.
However, younger children
will be assisted.

9 Early Morning
Runs in Flushing
Meadows Corona Park -
Every Saturday, a volunteer
led initiative meets
in the morning for runs
and walks through local
neighborhood parks.
Although this run will be
held in Flushing Meadows
Corona Park, this initiative
occurs in all five boroughs.
This free event will be 3.1
miles long. Participants are
encouraged to arrive 15 minutes
before the start of the
run and to leave their valuables
at home. They also welcome
people of all ages and
experience levels to join. The
