FLUSHING GRAND OPENING
The Hanover Bank Flushing Branch
Official Grand Opening and Ribbon
Cutting took place on April 11, 2019.
Denise Chardavoyne, Executive Vice
President, Chief Retail & Information
Officer commented, “The Official
Grand Opening and the associated
festivities were extremely gratifying
for Hanover. Our branch opening was
a long time coming. We wanted this
branch to reflect the great respect we
have for the Flushing community and
its importance to the Bank.”
It does that, and much more. And, as
Hanover came out for Flushing, the
Flushing community also came out
for Hanover Bank. Among the special
guests who attended the official
ceremony were Congresswoman
Grace Meng, NY State Senator Toby
Stavisky, NY State Assemblyman Ron
Kim, Dian Yu, Executive Director of
the Flushing Business Improvement
District (BID), and Peter Tu, Executive
Director of the Flushing Chinese
Business Association (FCBA). Themes
of “partnership” and “community”
were highlighted in speaker comments.
Senator Stavisky noted the
courtyard outside the branch as a
welcoming gathering place in the
heart of Flushing, just as Hanover
plans to be; and Assemblyman Kim
talked about the need for a community
bank that supports local organizations
that serve the community, and
that provides funding and services to
small businesses.
Michael Puorro, Chairman, President
& CEO at Hanover echoed
their comments. He spoke about the
Bank’s history of partnership with
the communities Hanover serves.
“We welcome the opportunity to
demonstrate to the Flushing community
that Hanover is a different
kind of bank. We look forward to
bringing the Hanover brand of
banking here.”
Hanover Board Members and Executive
Management were on hand
to celebrate with guests. Among
other special guests in attendance,
Hanover was honored to welcome
Claire Shulman, President & CEO,
Flushing Willets Point Corona LDC
and former Queens Borough President
(1986-2002) and Queens history
maker, and Pedro Rodriguez,
Director, La Jornada Food Pantry.
As part of the Grand Opening
ceremony, Michael Puorro presented
Mr. Rodriguez with a donation to
La Jornada Food Pantry on behalf of
Hanover Bank. “We are honored to
make our first contribution at the
Flushing branch to La Jornada Food
Pantry,” Mr. Puorro commented.
“Supporting all members of the
Flushing community is integral to
our company’s mission.”
Located at St. George’s Church,
La Jornada Food Pantry provides
crucial services in Flushing. Mr.
Rodriguez expressed his appreciation
on behalf of his organization.
“Your contribution is so important
and will provide meals for many in
need.” He continued, “Your gift will
allow us to provide 5,000 meals.
Thank you very much for Hanover
Bank’s support of La Jornada.”
Hanover’s Flushing branch will
be led by Jimmy Lee, Vice President,
who serves as the Flushing
Branch Manager and Business
Development Officer. Mr. Lee is
known in the Flushing business
community for his commitment to
economic development and quality
of life initiatives. Mr. Lee serves as
Treasurer of the Flushing Business
Improvement District (BID). Mr. Lee
has held management positions in
banking in the Queens market for
more than a decade, most recently
at Cathay Bank in Flushing. Mr. Lee
holds a degree in Business Administration
from Baruch College. Ms.
Chardavoyne commented on Jimmy
Lee joining the Hanover Bank Team,
“The great turn-out we have today
is largely the result of Jimmy Lee’s
involvement and reputation in the
Flushing business community,
and in the community at large. We
understand that relationships are
earned and we are fortunate to work
together with Jimmy Lee to earn the
trust and business of members of the
Flushing community.”
As part of the Grand Opening celebration,
Hanover Bank is offering special
deposit rates, available only in Flushing.
A Special Small Business Package,
and commercial packages for
both Attorneys and Accountants are
also available. Aside from Hanover’s
highly competitive loan and deposit
rates, other key attributes that are
valued by its business and consumer
clients are its financial strength and
its flexibility and know-how in niche
lending markets.
