The Queens College Chamber Orchestra will be performing at Flushing Town Hall at 1 p.m. Tickets are valued at $5 but students and members may see this wonderful performance for free. Every Sunday, the New York Hall of Science hosts a workshop in their “Maker Space.” This space allows children and their families to work with re-usable materials and form amazing, one-of-a-kind creations. This month’s workshop theme is tinkering, and will be held in two sessions, 1:30 to 3 p.m. as well as 3:30 to 5 p.m. The New York Hall of Science is located on 47-01 111th St. in Corona. The New York International Children’s Film Festival will be screening short animated fi lms at the Museum of the Moving Image. This screening includes fi lms from the U.S., Japan, Italy, France and many more. You will not want to miss this opportunity to see movies with your children from countries all over the globe. The screening begins at 2:30 p.m. and is recommended for children ages 8 through 14. Everyone is invited to the wedding of the year. The Thalia Theatre in collaboration with the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, will present their musical, “La Boda Mexicana” or “Mexican Wedding,” at 9:30 p.m. This musical encompasses Mexican wedding traditions as well as tells the beautiful story of Mexico’s culture. MONDAY, MARCH 21 The Queens Library of Bayside’s “Baby and Me” class, allows caregivers to truly connect with their children. This weekly class begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at noon. The library is located on 214-20 Northern Boulevard. It is a beautiful sight, seeing people embrace their culture. Because of this the Queens Museum in collaboration with the Mayor’s Offi ce, has arranged an event in support of International Mother Language Day. This event will celebrate the idea of uplifting one’s cultural language by keeping it close and sharing it with those around you. The event begins at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. It’s time to give it your all at table tennis! Head over to the South Hollis Library at 5:00 p.m. to show off your athletic prowess against all the competition. TUESDAY, MARCH 22 For all of you word whizzes out there, head over to Fresh Meadows and strut your word knowledge in the Scrabble Club. Meetings are held weekly from 1:15 to 3 p.m. Be sure to bring your own games if you can, as there may not be enough Scrabble sets for everyone. Scrabble meets are located on 193-20 Horace Harding Expressway. As we move forward in life, it will always be good for us to learn from the past. Yale University graduate and author Dr. Annette Insdorf will be lecturing at the Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center on the topics of the Holocaust, Nazism and anti-Semitism in relation to American cinema. She will also be discussing and reading passages from her book, “Indelible Shadows: Film and the Holocaust.” This lecture will take place at 7:30 p.m. at 222-05 56th Ave. in Bayside on the Queensborough Community College Campus. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23 Doing your taxes can be a struggle year in and year out. Thankfully the Queens Library of Windsor Park has counselors ready to assist. Simply bring photo identifi cation, your social security card, your last tax return and any documents relating to the past year’s expenses. This counseling session will be from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The Windsor Park library is located on 79-50 Bell Blvd. EDITOR’S PICK If building a selfi e collage is your idea of a fun-fi lled day, then get ready to show off those pearly whites! Children ages 5 through 12 will be able to work alongside their parents as they put together their favorite selfi es for this Drop-in Family Workshop. This event will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, and no registration is required to attend.
