The market, which will run on Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 28 to Dec. 20 with a special night market scheduled to take place on Dec. 4 after the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, is expected to bring in scores of shoppers to the Glendale shopping center. The popular market has seen visitors reaching the thousands at their Long Island City location. “I think being here in the middle of a mall in the holiday season allows us to benefit from the foot traffic that the mall is going to have,” said Joshua Schneps, LIC Flea president. “But also, for us to be in another neighborhood, we’re excited to be outside of Long Island City for new people to find out about the market.” Atlas Park has been changing ever since it opened, with new businesses opening frequently. HomeGoods just opened its first Queens location at the shopping center, and the LIC Flea & Food holiday market fits in with the Atlas Park shops. “This is definitely a different Atlas Park than it once was, and that’s why you being here, and thankfully helping us with the tree and the market, your timing is perfect,” said state Senator Joseph Addabbo. “I think it’s going to be a great holiday season for you and the marketplace.” The market will feature more than 70 vendors selling food, drinks, unique jewelry, antiques, clothes, art pieces and handmade crafts. “As we get into this holiday season, people are already starting to think of, ‘What am I going to get for this or that person,’ and you really don’t want to buy something that they could buy themselves,” Crowley said. “So why not go to a market such as the one we’ll have here where you can get really unique pieces? So I’m really excited about it because I just love those types of markets.” THE COURIER/Photo by Anthony Giudice Pictured from left to right: Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley; Joshua Schneps, president of LIC Flea; Senator Joseph Addabbo; and Elizabeth Aloni, LIC Flea market director.
