Luis A. Chango, 45, and Rosa Jerez, 37, both residents of Palmetto Street, were locked up last Saturday, Nov. 8, and appeared in Queens Criminal Court on Monday night, Nov. 10 for arraignment on multiple counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree identity theft, endangering the welfare of a child and petit larceny. But Results Of Abandoned Line Survey Disputed by Robert Pozarycki Queens residents favorably viewed reactivating the long-abandoned Rockaway Beach branch of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), according to the results of a study that Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder and Queens College announced on Monday, Nov. 10, in Flushing. The college’s Department of Urban Studies released a 98-page report gauging the public’s opinion on what to do with the Rockaway Beach line, a 3.2-mile tract between Rego Park and Ozone Park which last saw train service in 1962. Debate over its future heated up in recent months with the emergence of the QueensWay, a nature trail and bike path proposed for the rail line that, its proponents claim, will rival High Line Park in Manhattan. The survey asked residents to choose from four different options for the Rockaway Beach line: reactivating rail service, developing the QueensWay, -SEE RAIL ON PG. 26- Kids Help Spruce Up R’wood Pct. I.S. 93 in Ridgewood recently participated in an event organized by Guidance Counselor Debby Hartz, that gives free daffodil bulbs for planting in green spaces in memory of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The school reached out to 104th Precinct Det. Thomas Bell to plant the bulbs in front of the precinct to show their appreciation for all the hard work they do to protect us and our community. Bell and the police officers allowed the students to ask all of their questions and explained that the officers do a lot more than just arrest those who break the law. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month this year, Glendale residents paused to honor the sacrifices of veterans past and present during a Veterans Day ceremony Tuesday at the Glendale Veterans Triangle. Organized by American Legion Post 104, the brief service included prayers, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and words of tribute to those who fought in defense of the country.
