Over the weekend of Oct. 21-22,
the Blau Weiss Gottschee
(BWG) Academy teams
face two different Major League
Soccer (MLS) Academies in their
league play.
The older groups traveled to Boston
to play the New England Revolution
in three competitive games,
with the U15s losing 3-2, the U17s
coming up with a big 4-1 win, and
the U19s winning 1-0.
The younger teams battled New
York City Football Club (NYCFC)
in three games, with NYCFC
winning in the U12, U13, and U14
matchups.
In other news, BWG alumni Conor
McGlynne, a sophomore and captain
of the Sienna College team, scored
the winning goal to defeat nationally
ranked Rider University.
On the world stage, BWG product
Tim Weah and the U.S. 17 National
Team qualified for the quarterfinals
of the World Cup in India. Weah
scored the leading goal for the US
National Team.
