Make way for more residents
in Ridgewood.
The Mill, a brand-new,
seven-story residential building
on the former Philru Knitting Mills
site at 1626 Madison St., is officially
open with 89 available residential
units to bring in even more people
to the neighborhood.
In what is billed as Ridgewood’s
largest residential building, The
Mill has a variety of studio, one-
and two-bedroom apartments
— averaging 600 square feet — for
rent, featuring modern appliances,
storage space, and wood grain tile
floors.
According to The Mill’s website,
there are currently one-bedroom,
one-bathroom apartments starting
at $2,000, ranging all the way to
$2,475 each month; and two-bedroom,
one-bathroom apartments between
$2,500 and $3,185 per month.
Residents of The Mill will also
be able to take advantage of the
building’s rooftop community terrace,
pool table, conference room,
landscaped courtyard, lounge with
a fireplace, bike storage, on-site
underground parking, and laundry
room.
The site of The Mill, which previously
held a post office, a gasoline
garage with an underground tank,
a knitting mill, a gas station and
an auto repair garage, was part of
the state Department of Environmental
Conservation (DEC) Brownfields
Cleanup Program in 2014.
The Brownfields program offers
incentives to property owners who
remove contamination from locations
for reuse and redevelopment.
