The rally, organized by the Sacred Heart Parish Pastoral Council, will begin with registration at 11 a.m. on Oct. 3, followed by some icebreaker games to get things started. Newly ordained priest, Father Chris Bethge, a graduate of Sacred Heart School and parochial vicar at Church of the Incarnation in Queens Village, will be on hand for a talk and discussion on Mass participation and its importance with young people. “The whole idea itself is very good,” said Father Marcin Chilczuk, parochial vicar of Sacred Heart Parish. “We want to see how many people we can have. We want to do something for the kids, to get them to talk, and to listen to them about religion in group discussions.” Lunch will be served in the school yard at 12:30 p.m., and newly ordained Deacon Phil Franco of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish will also hold a talk and discussion group with those interested. At 3 p.m., attendees will be treated to a live performance by Alverlis with a live band. The day will conclude with Father Jun Hee Lee celebrating Mass at 4:30 p.m. “The idea for the rally came from the people in the parish,” Chilczuk said. “They want to see more youth in the parish. We don’t know how many people to expect because it’s the first time we are doing this. We invite everyone to come, even if there is anybody interested from another parish.” For more information on the rally, call the Sacred Heart rectory at 718-821-6434.
