Water fountain to be installed at 71st Ave. Plaza

As construction at the 71st Avenue
Plaza in Ridgewood winds
down, NYC Department of
Design and Construction (DDC) crews
will be working in the area this week
to prepare for the installation of a
water fountain, the agency announced.
Starting on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and
lasting until Friday, Sept. 8, DDC will
be setting up concrete for sidewalk
and preparing for the water fountain
installation at the pedestrian plaza,
according to the construction notice
DDC sent to Community Board 5 (CB 5).
The work will take place on the 71st
Avenue Plaza, located between 71st and
Myrtle avenues, between 7 a.m. and 4
p.m. However, due to unforeseen fi eld
and weather conditions, work dates,
locations and times may need to be
changed.
The plaza project — which will
transform the former temporary pedestrian
plaza on the underutilized
slip road between Stephen Street
and Myrtle Avenue — will add 3,000
square feet of open public space, and
is expected to be complete this month.

shutdowns.
