Police nab suspect in alleged Ridgewood slashing

Detectives cuff ed a man last week
for his alleged role in an assault
in Ridgewood two months
ago that sent a pair of victims to the
hospital with slash and stab wounds,
authorities said.
According to the criminal complaint
provided by Queens District Attorney
Richard Brown’s offi ce, cops apprehended
Edmond A. Huertas, 24, of the
Arverne section of the Rockaways, on
Aug. 30 for an attack that happened
on Wyckoff Avenue between Norman
and Summerfi eld streets earlier this
summer.
A verbal dispute broke out between
Huertas and two other unapprehended
individuals, and the two male
victims between 9:29 and 9:35 p.m.
on the night of July 15, the criminal
complaint noted.
When the dispute turned physical,
cops said, Huertas and the two accomplices
allegedly began beating their
victims in the face.

was allegedly hit in the face with

added.
Offi cers from the 104th Precinct
and EMS units arrived on the scene
that night and transported the
victims to an area hospital where they
were treated for their injuries.
One victim received multiple stitches
to his face, while the other victim suff ered
a life-threatening injury due to the cut on
his neck and received multiple stitches
to his neck and right arm, police said.

Huertas has been charged with
fi rst-degree assault, second-degree
gang assault, and two counts of second
degree assault. He is currently
being held on $75,000 bond/$50,000
cash, and is due back in court on
Sept. 13.
